Thanksgiving in January?

Who cares about Thanksgiving in January? Folks who like old dishes and lots of amateur food, that's who! Organized procrastination can, has and will continue to be my downfall.

 Blue Heaven by Royal China for the adults + big kid, Franciscan "Floral" and unknown daisy saucer for the little kid.

 The spread! Sideboard/buffets are the most useful things in a dining room, and i'm glad to see them making a slight comeback.

 Unknown green casserole: mashed potatoes. Fire King "Cornflower" oval casserole: candied yams. Flower wire basket: dinner rolls. Blue gravy boat (possibly Blue Heaven): Ham drippings. New school Pyrex: ham.

 More ham. Pea salad and deviled eggs on Sango Aquarius in the "Apollo" pattern.  

 Blue Heaven is my absolute favorite. I found a 24 piece set, including glassware, at a thrift store for $24. I'm slowly but surely adding more and more pieces as I go along.

 The little kiddo was all about those rolls. Also, Sabin Pottery gravy boat decorated with snowflakes and diamonds.

My oldest was pretty happy about getting to use the Blue Heaven set, and this was the first Thanksgiving that she helped with - cooking, measuring and being the ingredient gopher. Also, keeping mom on task and reminding her that things were burning.

Ahh, Clear Lake. Home to space crap, prefab neighborhoods and me! Me and mine live in one of the original houses in Clear Lake City, which I think is pretty great. Where else in Houston can you get a 1963 house in a quiet, safe neighborhood located down the street from a Saturn V rocket for under 150k? Yeah, that's right - i've got a rocket in my neighborhood.
